Time and Temp

There’s one thing about working on the radio in Britain that’s the opposite way around to how it was when I worked on the air in Australia.

Every radio station I worked on in Oz had a gauge in the on-air studio that showed you the outside temperature. At the end of weather forecasts on the air, you gave out the current temperature.

None of the radio stations I’ve worked on in Britain have a temperature gauge in the studio but if it’s really cold or really hot, listeners call up and tell you what the gauge on the dashboard of the car is showing.

So in Australia, the radio presenters tell the listeners what the temperature is, in Britain the listeners tell the radio presenters.
