Drone Alone

Would you fly in a drone?

A Chinese company claimed a world first last week by unveiling a drone capable of carrying a human passenger.

After setting a flight plan, the passenger just has to give two commands – “take off” and “land”. They have no controls as a backup. The company is planning a remote control centre that would take over the vehicle in the event of a problem and make sure it lands safely.

That’s right, you only get a pilot IF there’s a problem and they control the drone from the safety of the ground. I’m sorry but I want a pilot that has as much invested in a safe landing as I do!

As the caterpillar said, the first time he saw a butterfly, “You’ll never get ME up in one of those things!”

Craic on!
