How an air-conditioning mechanic in Sydney Australia became an award winning broadcaster in Britain; Part 202.

One of the main differences between working in radio and TV is the amount of control you get. You get to make a lot more of the editorial decisions when you’re on the radio.

In 1998, while working at 2CR in Dorset, I had the honour of meeting Jim and Alison Cronin for the first time. They work with endangered primates at the rescue centre they set up, Monkey World. The TV cameras were there the day they let me open ‘Charlie’s House’.

When it was broadcast on ITV, my joke at the blessing of the house was cut out. On 2CR, it went out live.

You can see and hear the uncut version of the joke at the end of these clips from the ITV show, “Monkey Business”.
