Foreign films are being ruined by whoever is in charge of the subtitles.

I like subtitled films because they combine two of the things I like doing most, reading and watching movies. The problem is when two characters are on screen together. The subtitles on screen cover both sides of their conversation. That spoils it because you read what’s on the screen faster than the lines are spoken. When a character in a movie says something provocative, there’s a certain thrill that comes from the anticipation you feel while you’re wondering how the other character will respond. That brief moment of enjoyment is stolen from you because you read what’s on the screen and find out what they’re going to say before they say it!

Subtitles are there so you can enjoy a film that would otherwise make no sense to you but when they put two lines of dialog from different characters on the screen together, they create a micro-spoiler.
