How an air-conditioning mechanic in Sydney Australia became an award winning broadcaster in Britain Part 27.

Being on the radio every day is the coolest job in the world. So many people want to do it but don’t know how to get started so they do odd things to get noticed.

My first on-air job was at 2PK in New South Wales, Australia. The radio station was in Parkes. In 1993, the town had a population of less than 10,000 people. When you work in a close community like that, everybody knows who you are and where you work. When the other presenters and I would walk into the back bar at the Parkes Hotel, the resident DJ would start back announcing each song and even give time checks.

Craic on!
